Working Women

It’s true!  Studies have shown that there are, in fact, not enough hours in the day!  That doesn’t mean, however, you have to stress about looking fabulous all day, every day.  We at Nissa are giving some tips to all you hard working ladies out there who love to accessorize, but don’t know how to take your office look to your nighttime look.  Here are three ideas we came up with to help you go-getters out.

This first look is inspired for those who are going out for dinner, a movie, or maybe even both!  The Roxy necklace is a great piece to add some flare to your simple clothes, and the Star Stud earrings will leave those at the office (or maybe your hot date after work) starstruck.

Fall is coming, and here we take working girl from the office to the study guru in the classroom.  We’ve paired the Wave Triple Cuff with our Raya Pendant Necklace in blue, cognac, and white to add some simple elegance to your autumn collection.  These pieces are great because they go with just about anything!

Last, but certainly not least, we have a look that’ll make you truly stand out… in the office or on the town.  Cobalt and black look great with these gold pieces—the Mesh Link Collar Necklace and the Cobblestone Triple Earring (as seen on Katherine Heigl!). Every girl likes to dress up now and then, and with Nissa Jewelry you can do just that!

Good luck ladies! And don’t forget to treat yourself :)

Introducing our bright new collection!

The word ‘excited’ does not even begin to describe our emotions towards the newest Nissa designs! Featuring some of the most brilliant baubles in the history of our brand, we are incredibly pleased to present our versatile and eye-catching collections of neon jewels.

There seems to be a common misconception on the fashion front- that it is a tedious task to add color to one’s ensemble during the cold weather months. Our new neon collections aim to prove this preconception wrong while encouraging style-conscious consumers to brighten their day, the Nissa Jewelry way;)

Our neon jewels are separated into two styles- Sydne and Roxy. We invite you to explore the new designs while learning the simple steps to incorporating color into your cold-weather ensembles…

Spruce up an otherwise ordinary arm party by incorporating a bold new bracelet from our Sydne style….

And ensure that all eyes are on you with one of our easily adaptable neon necklaces from in our Roxy style:

Both styles will give any outfit that unexpected pop of color that we’re sure everybody is looking for during these winter months.

Hey, its Election Day!

If it’s not apparent from the plethora of political ads you have probably seen this morning (I swear I saw six alone in my thirty-minute news watching endeavor) or the abundance of “I voted” stickers acting as accessories to commuters’ outerwear today- it’s finally Election Day! The day of patriotic toast for breakfast, shoes sporting elephants and donkeys and most importantly, the day we pick our next President!

Unbiased sites like ‘Vote Smart' allow visitors to choose the issues most important to them and ultimately understand which politician's platform most closely aligns with their attitudes. Check it out by clicking the image below- we actually learned a thing or two by perusing the various 'points'.

Also, as always, Google is paving the path for obtaining information conveniently while displaying one of their ever-creative banners:) Click the image below to find out where you are registered to vote today!

What party are we voting for you ask? Well, our strategic answer to that question is.. the Arm Party;) That’s right, not only are we proudly dawning our “I voted” stickers but also are subtly promoting our American pride with arms full of red, white and blue!

Don’t think we’ve forgotten about you if an arm full of bright bracelets and bangles isn’t your thing! Our “Liberty Collection" most definitely has a patriotic piece that will perfectly align with your personal style:)

Here at the studio, we’ve tried to keep the political talk to a minimum but all are in agreement that this is a monumental day in our country’s history. So get out there and make yourself heard today. After all, every vote counts!

Digging into the “Day of the Dead”

If you’re anything like us, when you first heard about the “Day of the Dead”, a Mexican holiday celebrated every November 1st, you were a bit perplexed. Over here at the studio we are in agreement that the first images that came to our minds were all associated with darkness, death, and Halloween-like graphics- yet- after further investigation, we found that day is characterized by anything but.

Originating from the rich Mexican culture, “The Day of the Dead” is an occasion which is centered around celebration of individuals who have passed on. Participants gather with friends and family for a day full of festivities- all honoring their close companions whose spirits they still believe surround them. The holiday is characterized by intricately designed crafts, colorful skull imagery and most importantly, superfluous amounts of smiles and songs.

People attend a plethora of parades on this day with the majority choosing to dress up in costume in honor of their deceased comrades (how fun!):

Spending just an hour at the studio would reveal that not one of our team members can say “no” to any holiday which provides us a platform for “stacking on” color. Thus, we are all decked out in Nissa’s popular skull jewelry in honor of today. You don’t have to tell us twice to hang on to some of our Halloween-inspired baubles for a bit longer;) Wonder what were wearing? Take a look…

We joked earlier that we thought Christmas was our favorite day of festivities yet after discovering the “Day of the Dead”, an occasion which combines two of our most beloved things (color and skulls!), we may have to re-evaluate it’s standing as #1:) If you can’t get enough of the fun and festive ‘feel’ of the the holiday head on over to our "Skull-ful Celebrations" Pinterest board! We’ve collected some of the most intriguing Day of the Dead- inspired images, recipes and crafts for you to dabble in if you find yourself with some free time!

Brilliant Boo-Tique Baubles

There are just thirteen days until Halloween and even though the holiday falls on a Wednesday this year, we are still dedicated to doin’ it right. What does this involve you ask? Well, for the employees of a jewelry company, somewhere in the description most definitely mentions dawning hauntingly awesome accessories…

Each and every bauble from our Boo-Tique was designed and created in order to compliment your holiday ensembles spookily well!  Let’s be honest, no woman can deny a little extra eye candy so why not treat yourself with to an equally boo-tiful and bewitching Nissa gem?

Although we never need a reason to stack on our colorful skull bracelets, the newly arrived autumn-take on the accessory gives us extra incentive to pile them on! Featuring fresh materials and embellished skeleton heads, the Skull Chains Bracelet is already one of the collection’s best sellers. It’s scary to think how frighteningly fashion-forward you’ll appear with your Halloween-inspired arm party!

There is absolutely no way you can look anything but wicked good when wearing a handmade holiday piece from our Boo-Tique so why not take a much deserved break on this bright Thursday morning and browse our newest collection!

DIY: Fabric-wrapped Hoop Earring

Last night we took a much-needed trip up to the attic to find all of our packed away fall fashions and boy, was it an adventure.. perhaps adventure is an understatement. Does anyone else get a kick out of sifting through your old belongings? Those things that you just HAD to keep and now come across five years later and just wonder “why?”.
Well, while we found our bountiful supply of boots we also spotted our huge bin of fabric swatches and couldn’t resist perusing it. From our plethora of fabric scraps we were inspired to update a pair of our old hoop earrings that have been hibernating in the dark depths of our closet for far too long. Believe us- the 10 minutes you spend on this DIY will breathe a new life into your forgotten earrings!

What you need:

  • a pair of old hoop earrings
  • fabric scraps
  • fabric glue
  • 2 small jump rings
  • 2 large jump rings

By now, you hopefully know that our newly remodeled website is home to many new additions. Not only does it feature our new Fall collection but also our colorful lookbooks have gone live! We had so much fun shooting some of our favorite summer pieces in unique locations around the city and we hope that the shots inspire you to stack up your arm parties and adorn yourself in our bold baubles:) There are currently four lookbooks for your browsing pleasure but stay tuned because each week we’ll be adding a new album!

Urban Oasis: Inspired by the serene locations in the city that provide an escape from the constant clamoring and conversation.

Peachy Keen: Our longtime love of the juxtaposition of navy and peach led to these photos- complimented with glitzy and gold gems.

Liberty Collection: Our time in the nation’s capitol inspired this group of jewels- perfect for showing off your American pride during the Olympic games commencing this weekend!

Let your ‘freak flag’ fly this Friday!

Just when you thought that the bizzare holidays that we uncover (hope everyone enjoyed ‘Paper Bag’ Day yesterday!) couldn’t get any stranger the clock strikes midnight and rings in “Embrace Your Geekness” Day! It is indeed Friday the 13th but over here at the studio we have chosen not to give into superstitions (even though we’ve knocked on wood at least 5 times already…) and instead are letting the ‘geek chic’ in us rule the day!

Not going to lie, we haven’t quite broken out the pocket protectors nor wrapped tape around our the middle of our eye glasses but we’ve have gotten a kick out of paroozing old photos of our team back in the ‘awkward’ days. Everyone has those pictures that you would rather close your hand in a door then let anyone in the world see- the ones that people who don’t even know you laugh at simply because they can’t fathom a more noticeably uncomfortable-with-themselves human being?! Well, it’s your lucky day because we have compiled some of those blackmail-esk kodak moments of our staff for you on this lovely Friday because we’re choosing to ‘embrace our geekness’ this holiday rather than deny it:) Prepare yourselves…

Firstly, feast your eyes on Emma from our Marketing team back in her pin-wearing, chubbier days…

Next, Allison, our resident Photoshop extraordinaire and one of the only people who can dress up as a nerd and still look stunning..

Up next is the lovely Ellina, from our Operations department, loving in on her plastic ice cream cone, we don’t ask questions.. haha

Alas, not one but two old-school pictures of Nissa herself! Plese note the ‘Dorothy Hamilll’ haircut (she would like to personally thank her mother for that one)..
yup… that happened

"big hair, don’t care"

Not ready to fully fly your ‘freak flag’? Do not fear! We have you covered! We compiled some of our favorite pieces into a ‘geek chic’ board so you can look nifty even on your nerdiest days!

See the ‘dweeby diva’ inspired ensemble we put together on Polyvore with a few of the pieces above:)
